The role – Supported Housing Officer
As a Supported Housing Officer you will be responsible for providing a comprehensive housing management and estate services for our Supported Housing. You will be the main point of contact for supported housing residents to deliver extensive housing management that will support vulnerable residents in sustaining their tenancies and ensuring that we provide safe and secure homes that our residents are proud of.
You will work in partnership with external agencies to advocate for vulnerable residents and work closely with local authorities to source suitable referrals for our voids. No two days are the same as a supported housing officer and this is a demanding but very rewarding role.
What you’ll do
You will:
- ensure that the Association’s conditions of tenancy are enforced, including the requirements to keep communal parts of premises clean. To investigate and attempt to resolve tenants complaints and disputes
- provide an intensive housing management service to those tenants requiring additional support in order to maintain their tenancy and referring on for additional support where necessary
- Ensure effective management of void properties and lettings from commencement, occupation to move-on and re-letting, interview applicants to assess housing need and allocate vacancies, in accordance with the Association’s Allocation Policy.
- Manage arrears and maximise rent collection to meet set targets
- Carry out Health and Safety visits and scheme inspections and ensure that schemes are complying with policies and procedures and legislative guidelines on Health and Safety
Skills and experience we'd like you to have
We’re looking for someone who has:
- knowledge of Housing law in relation to housing management.
- an understanding of Welfare Benefits (especially Housing Benefit)
- Knowledge of property and tenancy management
- the ability to maximise income collection and arrears minimisation
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Good problem solving skills and a desire to confront and solve problems
