About Us

Good resident engagement and participation is a top priority for Housing Services. Making sure that we involve our residents in improving our services and promote strong, sustainable communities is paramount.  We have remodelled our resident participation service to match our aspirations and are now looking for enthusiastic and dedicated professionals to join our new team.  

As  a Community Engagement and Projects Officer you will lead on the development of new community projects, supporting local resident groups to bring new ideas to life and promote sustainable communities. The post holder will build strong partnerships with residents, other Council services, local voluntary and community organisations and local businesses to ensure that community projects address the full range of challenges and opportunities on our estates, helping to maximise social value and tackle inequality. 

The role will include a focus on levering in new funds by supporting groups to design and submit successful funding bids and measure their impact, as well as promoting better take up of inhouse grants. You will additionally lead and contribute to consultation and engagement events which can develop resident engagement capacity and provide new opportunities for joint working.

To succeed in this position, you will need to be self-motivated, with strong communication skills and a ‘can do’ attitude. Significant experience of delivering innovative community projects and successful funding bids, including developing robust performance monitoring arrangements and managing project budgets, will be essential. You will be a strong and credible communicator with well-developed negotiation and presentation skills and have an in-depth knowledge and understanding of local community issues and challenges in a diverse community.
