YJS Social Worker Grade G7 SP30-34 £38,607 to £42,795 pa Integrated Adolescent Safeguarding and Support (IASS) Services

Do you want to make a difference to children and young people’s lives in Havering?

We are looking for a Youth Justice Social Worker to join our busy team.

You will join us in taking a Child First and trauma-informed approach in promoting supportive family relationships, enhanced emotional regulation, improved outcomes, healthier lifestyles and reducing re-offending.

Main purpose of the role:

Havering Youth Justice Service is part of an integrated and systemic model of working across the borough.  Working with colleagues from across our local partnership you will offer support and deliver interventions with young people who come to the attention of the Youth Justice Service. We are proud to be rated as Good in our recent HMIP inspection, giving us confidence in what we do well and the direction we are travelling in.

You will have the ability to build and sustain relationships with young people and their families, undertaking thorough and timely assessments that take account of the complex lives young people live and bring positive change.

You will have knowledge relating to the issues faced by young people at risk of committing crime, bullying, peer pressure and isolation; and to intervene in their lives to minimise these risks.

Being Child First means promoting the voice, views and positive images of young people; advocating on behalf of young people at professionals meetings, ensuring that their wishes and feelings are taken into account; keeping accurate and child-friendly records, and thinking of them as a whole person and not only in relation to the referral reason.  We work to motivate families and others in the ecology of the child/young person to be part of the solution and provide a long-term, sustainable environment for change.

As our only Social Worker we need you to bring your perspective to out Multi-Agency and Multi-Disciplinary team. Your knowledge and understanding of children’ statutory social work and contextual safeguarding.

Havering’s Face to Face systemic model is embedded at all levels through our service, through a relational approach to management, supervision that encourages reflective practice and recording systems that enhance the practitioner’s ability to spend more time with the families and children we work with.  For more information, follow this link
