Senior Engineer - Highway Development
If you are looking for a role with a varied workload, in an ambitious and award winning borough, and to stretch your experience, please read on.
Waltham Forest Is a dedicated walking and cycling borough, with a massive 12.4% of London’s overall protected cycle tracks now installed on our streets. This growth is matched by the number of new development projects. These new sites need to be integrated with our sustainable transport and highway network.
We are looking for a dedicated individual to join our established Highway Development team dealing with planning applications on behalf of the Highways department. The successful candidate will review and prepare comments on major planning applications, with support and input from Highways colleagues. The role involves the assessment of development proposals, and engagement with developers throughout the planning process, securing the best possible outcomes for the Borough and for Highways. The role requires objective thinking, clear writing, and consideration of all highways matters relating to each site.
Experience in Highways is preferable, however the role would also suit those with policy making, or report writing experience. Applications from those with a transport policy or development management background would be particularly welcome. An awareness of S278 agreements, S38 agreements, S106 agreements would be an advantage. More detail can be found in the Person Specification, and we invite you to apply for this opportunity.
