Help our customers living in Camden’s homes to have secure, safe and affordable housing that meets their ongoing needs and provide help and assistance when they need it.
Your role will involve working with colleagues to develop, maintain and review the services of Camden’s landlord services. As an apprentice you will work alongside experienced staff to learn how to deliver high quality housing management services to tenants and leaseholders. You will work with residents and other service providers to deliver the Council’s priorities in relation to sustaining communities and providing a safe environment for our residents. You will also be involved in monitoring and evaluating the work of the service.
- With training, learn and develop the necessary knowledge to understand residents, properties and neighbourhoods in context.
- Develop skills and knowledge in one or more key areas to meet customers’ demands, including:
- helping residents to sustain their tenancies/leases and creating sustainable estates and environments.
- encouraging and supporting the development of new TRA’s (Tenants residents associations), while working closely with existing TRA’s and Members of Cabinet.
- progressing and closing complex cases, achieving positive outcomes always keeping in mind the residents of Camden.
- Learning to support customers to solve problems at their root cause to build future strength in our communities and individuals.
- Assisting tenants to register online, join the rehousing list and liaise with the Allocations and Verification teams (who will assess their housing needs)
- Carrying our joint visits to properties with the technical team in order to support and assist vulnerable residents – raising any concerns to Adult/Children services
- Learning to lead on investigations of low level Anti-Social Behaviour and work with the Community safety team to ensure tenants are not in breach of their tenancy conditions
- Referring tenants to advice on benefits and welfare
- Learning to monitor rent accounts and deal with payments and arrears
- Assisting vulnerable tenants to contact the repairs team via web chat, Camden account or phone
- Dealing with things as early as we can, and as much as we can, pulling in support when needed to resolve customer issues in partnership with other officers, services and organisations.
- Learning about the work and developing the service in line with systems thinking principles to meet the changing needs of customers.
- Working closely/developing partnerships with other agencies, teams and colleagues to deliver a service consistent with customers’ changing needs.
- Learning and developing the skills necessary to act as a lead contact for at least one Tenant and Resident Association in the Locality.
- Working closely with officers within the Locality Team, senior officers and elected members to meet customer demands effectively.
- Working closely with colleagues in other services to resolve problems, and to pull in colleagues and partners where the skills or knowledge are not available in the Locality.
- Identifying patterns in barriers and obstacles to the work and address these collaboratively with colleagues.
- Building close working partnerships in the Locality area and other teams to best deliver for Camden customers in our properties, for example NHS, Police, Domestic Violence and Money Advice agencies and professionals.
- The role requires the apprentice to work proactively in our neighbourhoods, involving a significant percentage of visits to customers, accommodation and other agencies.
- You will also work in 5PS and other Camden offices when not out in locality.
- Attendance at external meetings, sometimes outside normal working hours, may be required, such as Tenant Resident Association (TRA) meetings and community events.

- Be a 16+ years old Camden resident/Camden care leaver/former Camden Primary or Secondary School student.
- Have been resident in the UK / EU for the last 3 years.
- Have relevant ID proving right to work in the UK, that you MUST provide at the pre-screening session.
- Not have a Housing management (Level 3) or equivalent qualification.
- Not already have substantial housing management experience.
- If you are shortlisted for the pre-screen interview you will need to complete a literacy and numeracy assessment to ensure you meet the minimum requirements to be eligible for the apprenticeship. The only exceptions to this are if you have already passed these with us or have/will produce certificates to show you have already met these minimum requirements.
