We have an exciting role for a support worker to assist people with learning disabilities and sensory issues in a supported housing service in Basildon.  

This is a role where you can really make a difference – both for the people you support, and for your personal fulfilment and development. You will have the opportunity to learn British Sign Language (BSL) while working.

What would you be doing?  

This is a really rewarding role, and your aim would be to support our customers and help them flourish. This could involve: 

  • Helping people to pursue their hobbies, 

  • Encouraging people to learn new skills, 

  • Increasing people’s social and living skills and broader support networks, 

  • Supporting individuals with personal care, cooking, cleaning and shopping support, 

  • Supporting individuals in communication for professional appointments, 

  • Helping individuals to increase their independent living skills, 

  • Supporting individuals with budgeting and managing their money and benefits, 

  • Linking people into education, training and work opportunities, 

  • Helping individuals to put together and update a support plan, so they can meet their goals, and so that it reflects their changing needs, 

  • Learning British Sign Language level one and two. 

Your place of work would be a supported housing scheme in Basildon, with a beautiful garden. 

This role has a 5-week rolling rota. An example of shift patterns is: Monday - Sunday shifts: 07.00-14.30, 14.30-22.00, 08.00-15.30, 10.00-17.30, Sleep In - 22.00 - 07.00.
