We want to have a finance function that will build a brilliant team to meet the challenges of tomorrow. A vacancy has now arisen for a Principal Accountant role within the Corporate Acounting section of the Corporate Finance team.
Principal Accountant (Treasury and Capital)
Reporting to the Chief Accountant, this is a technical role that requires prior experience of fixed asset accounting and reporting, ideally with prior knowledge of Real Asset Management (RAM) software.
You will support the delivery of the wider aspects of the closure of accounts process ensuring adherence to relevant regulation, guidance and legislation.
You will also support the coordination of production of the Council’s Statement of Accounts, including capital accounts, financial instruments and other Treasury activity.
You will support the corporate team to respond to various technical queries from both internal and external audit.
You will also work on operational duties for the council’s Treasury Management requirements. This includes daily Treasury dealing and associated tasks. Preparation of the Council’s short and longer term cashflow model, Forecasts of borrowing costs and investment income and regular review of market data and preparation of monthly overview information for senior management.
Direct operational experience of Treasury Management within a local authority is desirable.
To be considered for this role you will be a CCAB qualified accountant or have significant experience of working at a senior level with in a large and complex organisation.
Finally, you must have good IT skills with excellent knowledge of office applications, in particular MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and MS Teams.
