The Electoral Commission is the independent body that regulates party and election finance, sets standards for well-run elections and encourages people to register to vote.

Job Description

We are recruiting for a Senior Adviser to join our Support & Improvement team to develop the Commission’s Performance Standards Frameworks and progress various improvement initiatives. The role will support the ongoing delivery of the standards to drive performance improvement by Electoral officers and produce a range of tools to build resilience and capacity in local authorities.

Role Requirements

The role provides a unique opportunity to join a small, dedicated and enthusiastic team responsible for the development of performance standards, including tools and resources to support the increased efficiency and effectiveness of electoral management and registration services across the UK.

This is an exciting time to join the Support & Improvement team, with the creation of a new set of Returning Officer Performance Standards and the development of a toolkit that will support local authorities. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to use their skills and experience to play a key role in providing support to Electoral Officers.

You’ll need to be organised, proactive and enthusiastic, able to manage projects and juggle conflicting requirements to deliver a wide range of outputs. You will be working collaboratively with teams across the Commission, as well as external stakeholders, to deliver initiatives that make a real difference.

The Electoral Commission offers excellent terms and conditions, including flexible working hours and the opportunity to join the Civil Service pension arrangements (dependent on scheme rules) which include a valuable range of benefits.

We welcome applications from external candidates who wish to undertake the role on a secondment basis.
