The role

The Occupational Therapist is based within the Logistics Team which is responsible for managing and booking transportation, predominantly for Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Adult Social Care (ASC) clients travelling in buses and taxis but this may also extend to other transport options and ensuring that all users are risk assessed for travelling.

The successful candidate will report directly to the Logistics Manager to undertake service user risk assessments for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and Adult Social Care (ASC) clients. The post holder will also support the Concessionary Passes and Badges Team with mobility assessments as part of the application processes for Concessionary Travel such as the Blue Badge Scheme.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.

To be considered for this exciting opportunity it is essential the successful candidate holds a Degree in Occupational Therapy alongside current Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registration. You will have an in depth understanding of relevant accessible transport legislation and policies alongside a good working knowledge of resources required to deliver effective equipment, adaptations and care to clients and their carers. The successful candidate will have previous demonstrable experience of working as an Occupational Therapist in a statutory setting, preferably within accessible transport. Additionally you’ll have a clear and concise knowledge and understanding of risk assessment, moving and handling issues and safeguarding for children and adults alongside   carrying out mobility assessments and compiling clear, concise reports in accordance with legislation.
