Bereavement Services – Crematorium Technician

 

Croydon is a distinctive and diverse place and is London’s most populated borough.  Croydon Council is proud of the service it provides through its Bereavement Services at its crematorium and three cemeteries.  To help further improve our standards we are seeking to recruit to the following post: 

Crematorium Technician: salary range £31,122 to £32,112 (including London weighting). Saturday working on a rota basis for which overtime is paid. 

The main duties of the Crematorium Technician include carrying out cremations in compliance with the relevant legislation, conducting basic maintenance on the cremators and ancillary equipment, carrying out chapel duties dealing with any situations or emergencies that may arise, the disposal of cremated remains either with or without witnesses and with a reading when required, assisting visitors, mourners and other service users. Cleaning and housekeeping are also a requirement of the role.  Flexibility, accuracy and attention to detail are essential for this work, as is general fitness and an ability to work sensitively with the bereaved, funeral directors and other service users.

Experience is preferred but not essential as in house training is provided, we would expect you full commitment to successfully complete the training and obtain the ICCM (institute of Crematorium & Cemeteries Management) Crematorium Technicians Training Scheme Intermediate + Certificate of Proficiency (CTTS).
