About us
In Camden we are committed to working together to make our borough the best place to live, work, study, and visit. Partnership with our communities is central to the way we work, so that everyone can access opportunities, and nobody gets left behind.

The role
Due to a period of exciting change resulting from HS2’s arrival at Euston, we have a fantastic opportunity for a talented and diligent Urban Design Officer. The position sits alongside a wider team of urban designers within Camden’s multi-disciplinary Regeneration and Place team but is a role focused on working specifically with the Euston Regeneration team. This is a professional role, ideally with RIBA qualifications, that requires a cross-section of skills and behaviors to ensure high-quality outputs that contribute towards Camden’s overarching objective to create a new piece of city at Euston, which is planned with the community at its heart.

This is a once in a generation opportunity to enhance and re-shape the Euston area through a positive approach to planning and inclusive urban design while working with our local communities – a real chance to help shape the largest central London development site.

The Euston Regeneration team has responsibility for the development of planning policy for the transformation of the Euston area, managing the pre-application and application process for the oversite development above and around Euston Station and the HS2 station, shaping emerging designs for Network Rail and Crossrail 2 stations at Euston, considering wider opportunities around Euston Station and delivering the objectives of the Euston Area Plan.

Working alongside other members of the Euston Regeneration team’s policy and project management officers, you will be responsible for ensuring good urban design outcomes for the Euston area through reshaping and updating the Euston Area Plan.

Working alongside the Euston Regeneration team’s DM officers, you will take responsibility for effective design negotiation on the station and delivery of between over 2,000 and 3,800 homes and over 15,000 jobs with new and replacement open spaces and new streets across a new piece of city above the station through the planning pre-application process, to ensure high quality and innovative outcomes that reflect Council-wide objectives and policies.

About you
To be considered for this exciting opportunity the successful candidate must have a degree level qualification and a diploma or postgraduate qualification in architecture or related discipline.

The successful candidate will be able to work within a complex environment, taking responsibility for delivering defined outcomes in a high-quality effective manner. You will be skilled at establishing relationships with and influencing key stakeholders and developing collaborative working arrangements. You’ll have a proven track record of working on large scale and complex regeneration projects.

Key will be excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills; team working; and the ability to adapt and be creative to unlock the potential of this complex regeneration project.

Experience in designing and delivering relevant projects is also required.
