Permanent Position

Interview date: TBC

For an informal discussion, please contact Amanda Farthing - Senior Permit Coordinator on 01273 293366.

About the role

To assist with the operation and co-ordination of Activities and traffic management across the City. Working with the Traffic Manager/ Senior Permit Co-ordinator in accordance with the New Roads and Street Works and Traffic Management Acts in order to improve movement of traffic within the City.

We work with a range of internal and external stakeholders to deliver a range of services, and therefore our work is varied with no two days ever being the same.

We are seeking committed, resilient and well organised team player to join our friendly team.

You will be required to manage team inboxes, liaising with other teams within the council as well as external stakeholders. You will be great at helping people and working under pressure, to investigate and respond to enquiries and complaints, in a timely manner. So the ability to problem solve and work accurately and efficiently is paramount, and ideally you will have previous experience dealing with inboxes and enquiries, but this is not essential as full training is given and continuous personal development is available.

You will be responsible for Abnormal Load movements, permit fee invoicing, and reporting damaged apparatus in the highway to the relevant asset owner, whilst maintaining accurate and up to date records on all of these things and ensuring that we comply with current legislation. Full training is given, and this will suit a well organised person with good attention to detail.

As part of your application, you will need to complete your education and work history and upload a supporting statement. Your supporting statement is the most important part of your application as it will be used in the shortlisting process to assess whether you meet the essential requirements for the role that are set out in the person specification and to decide whether you should be offered an interview. Before you start your application, please read our guidance here (Supporting statement guidance (brighton-hove.gov.uk)) as this gives important advice which will increase your chance of success in the shortlisting process.
