SENIOR BUILDING CONTROL SURVEYOR
A fantastic new opportunity has opened up at Building Control Solutions for a enthusiastic, experienced Senior Building Control Surveyor to join our Service.
As a two-way shared service across the combined authorities of Wokingham Borough Council and the district of West Berkshire Council, Building Control Solutions has set out to deliver quality building control services using innovative approaches to working. We’re at the start of an exciting journey, and we’re looking for passionate people to help us to shape its next stage.
ABOUT THE JOB
Reporting to the Building Control Team Manager you’ll have the opportunity to get stuck into projects in either the Wokingham or West Berkshire area. Because we are a shared service, you’ll take a flexible approach and may be required to move between the two locations.
Crucial to your role will be ensuring that our service users are maintaining compliance with building control regulations. You’ll provide technical advice and interpretation on all matters concerning the Building Regulations and associated legislation to both internal and external clients.
Additionally, with your knowledge of the competitive issues surrounding building control, you’ll develop customer-oriented initiatives for the Service. You’ll take a proactive approach to your work, promoting the Building Control Service to secure major projects.
It is essential that you are educated to degree level in Building Surveying and have achieved a professional qualification to intermediate level with the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors or the Chartered Association of Building Engineers.
In order to be successful in this role you will have significant experience of working in building control, ideally within local government. You’ll also possess excellent working knowledge of building regulations and associated legislation as we as knowledge on a variety of building uses including large complex non-domestic building projects.
In addition, you’ll have great communication skills, as you’ll need to be able to negotiate with customers and maintain relationships with stakeholders.
