About Hackney Schools Group Board
In recent years, Hackney schools have become some of the best state schools in the country.
Our vision is to improve the life chances of every child and learner and make Hackney the most forward looking education system in the UK.
The Hackney School’s Group Board exists to involve headteachers further in developing long term strategy for the content and shape of education in our borough.
It plays an important role in the strategic direction for Hackney education. We want to see the Hackney family of schools continue to work together, developing the best possible provision for all our children and young people.
The board brings together representatives from schools across the borough, as well as independent experts and councillors, to provide a long term steer to system and school improvement in Hackney.
It acts as an advisory board to the Director of Education, involving a broad range of voices and opinions in shaping improvements in education. It involves headteachers in steering local policy; it facilitates schools and professionals working closely together to share and grow expertise.
The HSGB is designed to engage all Hackney schools in system improvement and be the practical manifestation of school system leadership. Conceived as a ‘think tank’, the Board steers local improvement in Hackney through enquiry and research, using its unique role and position in relation to the Council and the school network to promote participation.
