Croydon is an ambitious Council with a focus on supporting and encouraging business growth, delivering new homes (specifically affordable homes) and responding to local needs, making sure that all benefit from the fruits of good growth and regeneration.
Croydon is well placed to be a major strategic force for good growth and transformation in London and the South East. The Council has a vision to deliver much needed sustainable development as envisaged by the Croydon Local Plan (2018). We have and will continue to be focussed on delivery - well grounded in reality, working closely with partners and developers to problem solve and identify pragmatic solutions, utilising dynamic development management processes and best practice.
An opportunity to get involved and be part of a forward-thinking development management service does not come along very often and we look forward to hearing from you.
About The Role
We are further enhancing service delivery for our customers to focus specifically on the realisation of sustainable growth, firmly embedded in high standards of design and the maximisation of social, economic and environmental benefits.
However, sustainable development can only be delivered alongside a proactive and robust planning enforcement regime and you will be charged as part of a team with investigating and resolving alleged breaches of planning control through negotiation and/or the service of planning enforcement notices with follow up of legal proceedings as appropriate.
You will work in a vibrant and busy Development Management Service and the successful candidate will have to be enthusiastic, motivated and demonstrate a general understanding of town planning legislation, have good written and verbal communication skills and to be able to work under pressure and to strict deadlines.
We would welcome applications from candidates such as those currently on a town planning/planning enforcement career path or those looking for a change in their career from one discipline to another.
If you are interested in joining us we would be pleased to hear from you.
For an informal discussion regarding the role please e-mail Robert Snodin (Planning Enforcement Team Leader) at Robert.Snodin@croydon.gov.uk
