EMAS (part of Children, Families and Learning) are recruiting for Bengali, Surani and Wolof speakers to take on role of Bilingual Liaison Assistant.
The role of a bilingual assistant is as follows:
- To use mother tongue skills and English to improve access to the curriculum for children for whom English is an additional language.
- To work under the instruction / guidance of teaching staff/ EMAS and to undertake work/ care/ support programmes, to enable access to learning for individuals or groups, and to assist the teacher in the management of pupils. Work may take place in the classroom/ setting or outside the main teaching area.
- To act as a link between home and setting/school to enable effective communication and partnership. This can take place either in the home or setting/school.

About the role
You will be a native speaker of Bengali, Surani or Wolof and also have very fluent spoken and written English.

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is less than 37 hours or term-time only.
