About the Role
You’ll be a key member of the Services Quality and Development (SQD) Leadership team and extended Services Leadership Team that enables our services to grow, develop, improve and, where required, redesigns services to meet local visions and the overall Shelter strategy. Your challenge? To oversee and manage development plans that will help our hubs become a base for change in their communities and achieve their wider strategic objectives. We’ll also rely on you to supervise and manage leads and opportunities to retain and secure contracts, including making bid/no bid decisions where appropriate. Participating in, or leading on, strategic projects as required by Shelter leadership teams will be important too. And, when it comes to managing and supporting a team of Development Managers and Officers or focusing on providing high quality support to Hub Managers across the North, again, we’ll count on you to deliver.

To succeed, you’ll need substantial experience of commissioning, including tendering and negotiation of contracts. You’ll also need experience of managing, motivating and developing a team and developing and maintaining relationships with a variety of existing and prospective external partners. A flair for writing clearly, concisely and accurately, drawing on a range of evidence to produce compelling content for tenders and proposals, is also required, as is the ability to give feedback to support and develop others. What’s more, you’re proactive, have a collaborative approach, respect for others opinions and are not afraid to apply creative thinking, challenge the status quo and introduce new ideas, methods and processes.
