About the role

This post will enable resident-led neighbourhood based initiatives that improve the quality of life and services in an area, independently and/or in collaboration with the council, other public services and  local businesses. The post holder will help strengthen and diversify resident participation in local decision-making processes and in the review, design and delivery of council services including supporting the involvement of council tenants and leaseholders in decisions around the management and maintenance of their homes. 

We are looking for someone who has experience in community engagement, skills in engaging with a diverse range of communities, good understanding of the estates in our city and the underlying inequalities, we need someone with a good awareness of diversity and the City issues and Council priorities.  You will need experience in project management, building and developing partnerships, and building trust and consensus across a range of stakeholders.  You will need to be self-motivated, creative and tenacious.

You will be working as part of the friendly community engagement team which is part of the wider Communities Equality and Third Sector Team.  You will need flexibility to attend some meetings at evenings and weekends and be comfortable with working in a changing and political environment.

At present you will mainly be working from home, however we are continuing to support communities directly throughout Covid 19 so you will need to do some direct delivery which will be managed with appropriate safety equipment. 

You will need to be committed to, and will be supported with, professional development.

Additional information

Your starting salary will be pro rata if the above position is part-time or term-time only.
