  Senior Analyst Officer, Public Health

  PO4 (£39,774 - £42,684, will be updated to 2020 grade when available)

 Change and Insight Directorate

The post: This is a permanent post in the London Borough of Newham Council.  The postholder will be within the Change and Insight Directorate and working closely with the Public Health team.

This is an exciting time to be joining Newham, with the necessity to continue Business as Usual to support the population, whilst the current pandemic is clearly a major part of the workload.  Newham has been a pioneer in developing support services for their residents from the very start of the pandemic to the more recently engaged and developing resident Health Champions, and other Local Authorities nationwide have developed similar services based on Newham’s models due to its success.

The role: The postholder will be line managed by the Principal Public Health Analyst and will work closely with the Public Health Team, led by a Public Health Director with support from Consultants, Strategists, Project Managers and Analysts. A typical week would include the development of high quality, specialist, public health intelligence and insight on a full range of data and information to support the Public Health team.  The postholder will also lead on, or contribute to, regular reporting and updates, through to reports such as Joint Strategic Needs Assessments, Health and Wellbeing Board papers and reports for the Mayor and elected members of the Council.  There will be cross-organisational working with other organisations such as Clinical Commissioning Groups, Commissioning Support Units, Hospital Trusts and the Voluntary Sector as well as close working with Local Authorities, particularly within North East London.  The postholder will also work closely with the national data teams including Public Health England/The National Institute for Health Protection, NHS Digital and the regionally based Clinical Effectiveness Group.

The team plan to continue moving towards creating digitally available reports and this role will be part of that development.
