The Partnerships Team is part of the Council’s Landlord Services Support Group. It builds links with partners and runs projects and events which aim to improve social and financial inclusion, employment prospects and health and wellbeing. We are looking for an energetic, enthusiastic person to join us to help residents access employment and training opportunities.
We want everyone in Camden to lead good lives, and we know that being in good work is a key part of this. We want Camden residents to be in work that makes use of and develops their skills, gives them a sense of purpose and contribution, and pays them a good wage – in order for them to lead the life they want to lead. As part of our investment to expand the reach of our employment support, we are establishing a new Job Hub in the north of the borough to make sure that residents can access support close to where they live, and specific to the needs of their community.
In this role you will develop and maintain close links with other employment support projects to support staff to identify the most appropriate intervention for individuals they are working with. This may include a high proportion with support needs and/ or health issues and you will work closely with team members with a strong understanding of money and benefits issues. You will need to develop an in depth understanding of the current work and health programme in Camden which is called Central London Works and is run by Ingeus. It is expected that they will be a key referral partner so a close working relationship with them is essential.
This role may suit someone with a background in employment support or advice work who would like to bring their skills and experience to a high profile service improvement project.
This role is being offered on a 12 month fixed term contract or secondment opportunity.
To be successful in this role you will need a sound understanding of the economic, social and well-being issues affecting Camden residents and have the ability to provide information, advice and guidance on employment and skills options and to provide support to access employment or training.
You will need to be an excellent communicator who can build and sustain partnerships that work across a wide variety of stakeholders, including internal teams in order to generate referrals and encourage teams to see the benefits that employment can bring to resident’s lives.
The role will also require you to have excellent spoken and written communication skills and an understanding or awareness of data protection and confidentiality, and if you have experience of working with people who may not yet be “work ready” would be an advantage.
This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS.
Camden’s main offices are located in modern, award-winning offices at King’s Cross.
