Also, if candidate has relevant qualification for Educational Audiology or experience in leadership , candidate may be appointed on a Teaching Learning Responsibility point or on leadership scale.

- Safeguarding children and adults is of utmost importance to Newham. This role has been identified as requiring a Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) check.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting and providing advice for hearing impaired pupils in mainstream and special schools. They will need to have excellent oral and written communication skills and understand the barriers to learning that children and young people with a hearing impairment face and how these barriers may be overcome. Specialist knowledge and experience with SEN and hearing impairment is essential. The post holder will need to have an ability to challenge, motivate and inspire teachers, teaching assistants, parents/carers and professionals across the Children and Young People’s Service. A commitment to inclusive education for all hearing impaired pupils is required.

A qualified Teacher of the Deaf will be awarded +2SEN. A qualified Teacher of the Deaf who holds an additional qualifications in Educational Audiology and/ or experience of team leadership will be considered additionally on TLR or leadership scale depending on experience and qualification.
