In Barking and Dagenham, we recognise the importance of providing support to our community in dealing with issues such as neglect and domestic abuse. We also recognise that the risk of exploitation poses a serious threat to our most vulnerable children and young people. We are committed to developing robust teams and services to tackle these head on. We have been chosen to work with experts from the University of Bedfordshire to help embed a contextual safeguarding approach to tackle these issues, alongside our partners across Barking and Dagenham.

Our Team Managers are central to driving excellent social work practice and making a positive difference to children, young people and their families in our Community. We are looking for a dedicated and passionate team manager to join the Adolescent and Youth Offending Service. This is a multi-disciplinary service made up of roles such as psychologist, family therapist, CAMHs nurse, YOS practitioners and missing children coordinators. You will supervise senior social workers and social workers that sit in the Adolescent team within the service , and you will report into the Exploitation and Missing Service manager. The team provides bespoke social work services to children and their families to help safeguard children and young people at risk of exploitation

About you

You will be a passionate, caring and dedicated Team Manager who is able to think outside the box and develop creative solutions, to join our newly formed Adolescent and Youth Offending Service. With your skills, experience and knowledge you will oversee all casework undertaken by your team. You will also have excellent analytical and writing skills and the ability to incorporate the Strengthening Families Model in your management role which builds on families’ strengths with a focus on protective factors. If you want to assist with the development of this service and manage the staff within this service, then this job is for you.

Special Requirements for this Post

You will need to have completed a Social Work degree and hold a current HCPC registration for this position. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and a comprehensive screening process will be undertaken on successful applicants including an Enhanced Children’s Department of Barring Services check
